About Pommy Divas

Welcome to Pommy Divas, a site where I share with you ways in which I have found to make a Pomeranian’s coat look fabulous. I’ve found that it is necessary to address the Pomeranian coat from the inside out. What I mean by that is what you do on the inside, nutritionally is as important for your Pomeranians coat as it is how you handle the coat from the outside. Here I will share with you various methods I’ve found to be helpful in accomplishing that fabulous looking coat.

The Pommy Divas Story

On February 16th, 2016, Sophi and Lucy were born. I didn’t know it on that day, but very shortly thereafter I put a deposit down on one puppy, Sophi. She was the last available puppy in a litter of 6.

I got a chance to meet her at 5 weeks and she instantly let me know that I was hers. She was so tiny and fragile but I could tell right away that she had a fierce spirit.

I called the breeder in the 8th week to arrange picking her up and she asked me if I was still interested in a second puppy because they decided that they weren’t going to keep one of the pups as originally planned.

Yes, yes, yes!!! I was really wanting two and now I would be bringing home two puppies.

Now prior to all of this, about a year and a few months before, my son had brought home two rescue puppies, also Pomeranians. I completely fell in love with them. What prompted me to get my own Pommies was my son telling me that he was moving away to college and taking his dogs with him. I knew I had no choice in his leaving, and it was for a good reason; all mamas must let go of their children eventually, but I did not want to be without dogs. After some searching I came upon my beautiful fur babies.

Jump forward to how I got into grooming. I loved grooming my Poms. I wanted them to always look their best. I decided that I was interested in learning grooming. A friend of mine, who happened to be my Pom’s trainer and a retired vet tech said she had several friends in her community that needed their dogs groomed, would I be interested in helping them out.

Under her watchful eye, I began grooming. Shortly thereafter I took a certification course and within a couple of weeks got a job as a groomer assistant in a local pet shop. Little did I know that I’d get to work and learn from an amazing veteran groomer while also doing an internship out of another local shop with another veteran groomer.

I never expected that I would jump in so quickly and start grooming dogs professionally while learning under these amazing seasoned groomers.

Unfortunately it was short-lived as a few months later the pet store closed. It did not work out for me to work with either one of these groomers so I was on my own.

I decided to take the several clients that I had with small dogs and groom their dogs out of my home. I had all this fabulous grooming equipment that I could use and a small space that would work out and thus My Little Precious Dog Grooming was born.

I view dog grooming as an art. I really enjoy connecting with the dogs and helping them to look and feel great.

Of course, I especially enjoy grooming Poms. They have such an amazing coat to work with.

I will share with you here all the various techniques and products that I’ve used to help make Pom’s look fantastic.
